About Ferrick Mason

Ferrick Mason was started in the summer of 2008 as a partnership between Brian Ferrick and Alex Mason. The two were introduced by mutual friends who recognized the unique synergy of Ferrick's experience in textile development and marketing and Mason's painting and textile design training.

In 1994 after receiving his B.A. in Visual Arts from Bradford College, Ferrick moved to Los Angeles where he got his start in the fabric industry working at the Pacific Design Center for Hinson & Co. and later Clarence House. In 2000, Ferrick went to work for interior decorator and textile designer Kathryn M. Ireland where he quickly learned the manufacturing and development side of the business while working closely with Kathryn and overseeing showrooms thoughout the U.S. and in London. Ferrick was later recruited by Michael Smith to help with the development of the Jasper Fabric line where he worked for four years until leaving to partner with Mason on the Ferrick Mason line.

Mason studied art at The University of Vermont and got a Masters in painting from Pratt Institute in 1998. She sells her paintings through art dealers in New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta and her paintings have ended up in private collections and hotel installations from Boston to Dubai. Friends and professionals encouraged Mason to try textile design as they felt her work lent itself to the new medium. Mason enrolled at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles and learned the technical aspects of creating textiles.

Ferrick Mason designs are inspired by nature. Ferrick and Mason work together to develop design concepts, which Mason draws and paints by hand. To reinforce this handmade quality, they prefer to hand silkscreen the designs. Ferrick Mason fabrics are locally printed in Los Angeles on Belgian linen and 100% cotton using ecofriendly and water-based inks and dyes.
